Hey everyone, I’m stuck with a WhatsApp API problem. I made an API to send auto messages when certain things happen. I set it all up and added a phone number, but it’s not working right.
I thought I did everything okay. I even got rid of WhatsApp Business on my phone so the number wasn’t tied to it anymore. But when I try to send messages automatically, it’s not going through.
I tried to set up the number in Meta Business Suite for the WhatsApp Business API. But I keep getting this annoying message saying the inbox only works for numbers not used on WhatsApp. So I’m totally stuck!
Any ideas on how to fix this? I really need to get these automatic messages working. Thanks!
Hey davidw, I feel your frustration. I went through a similar headache when setting up WhatsApp API for my business. One thing that worked for me was using a completely new phone number that had never been associated with WhatsApp before. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it bypasses a lot of the registration issues.
Also, make sure you’re using the official WhatsApp Business API, not the regular WhatsApp Business app. They’re different, and the API has stricter requirements. Double-check your API credentials and make sure you’ve completed all the steps in their documentation.
If all else fails, reaching out to WhatsApp’s business support directly might be your best bet. They can sometimes spot account-specific issues that aren’t obvious. Hang in there, it’s worth it once you get it working!
yo david, sounds like a pain in the butt! have u tried deleting ur whatsapp account completely? sometimes theres still data lingering even after uninstalling. might help to start fresh. also, double check ur API credentials n make sure theyre up to date. goodluck man!
I encountered a similar issue when setting up WhatsApp API messaging. One crucial step is ensuring your number is properly deregistered from WhatsApp consumer apps. Try this: go to the WhatsApp website and use their ‘Delete My Account’ feature for that specific number. Wait 24-48 hours before attempting to register it with the Business API again. This complete reset often resolves lingering conflicts. Also, verify your API endpoint URLs and authentication tokens are correct. If problems persist, reaching out to Meta’s developer support might be necessary for account-specific troubleshooting.
