Hey everyone! I’m trying to decide between different integration platforms for my company and could really use some input from people who have experience with these tools.
We’re considering Workato, Boomi, Mulesoft, and Celigo as our main options. Each one seems to have its own strengths but I’m having trouble figuring out which would work best for our needs.
Has anyone here used multiple platforms and can share their thoughts? I’m particularly interested in:
Ease of setup and maintenance
Performance and reliability
Cost factors
Learning curve for new users
Available connectors and integrations
Any real-world experiences or recommendations would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!
Been using Mulesoft for 4 years. The pricing complaints are dead-on accurate. We’re a big enterprise so the cost worked for our volume, but it’s brutal. Learning curve is rough - took our team 6+ months to build anything decent. Once you’re past that, it handles everything. What caught me off guard was infrastructure babysitting. You get power but you’re managing way more than cloud-first tools. We’ve got dedicated ops people just watching and scaling runtimes. If you don’t have those resources, go with the other options people mentioned. Here’s what I’d add - think about where you’ll be in 2-3 years, not just today. We started basic but now we’re doing real-time streaming, API management, complex B2B stuff. Mulesoft scaled with us, but honestly we could’ve started lighter and moved up later. The connectors are solid though - always found what we needed.
I’ve done this twice in five years, so here’s what actually worked.
Workato won both times. The recipe approach makes sense to everyone - even our non-tech people get it. Had our main integrations up in 2 weeks.
Mulesoft’s powerful but way too much unless you’re doing complex transformations. Took us 3 months just to train the team. Licensing costs exploded when we scaled.
Boomi’s the middle option. Good performance, easier to learn. But their connectors sucked compared to Workato. Works if you’ve got a standard tech stack.
Evaluated Celigo but never used it live. Looked good for mid-market but missing enterprise stuff we needed.
Here’s what nobody mentions - figure out monitoring and error handling first. Workato’s ops dashboard saved us tons of debugging time vs our old Mulesoft mess.
What’s your company size and integration volume? That changes everything.
Started with Boomi three years ago, switched to Celigo last year. Best decision we made for our mid-size company. Boomi was fine for basic stuff but turned into a nightmare once we needed complex workflows. Sure, the visual interface looks pretty, but it becomes a tangled mess real quick. Don’t get me started on their support - we’d wait weeks just to get answers on critical issues.
Celigo took some getting used to, but once we figured it out, everything clicked. Their prebuilt templates are a lifesaver, especially if you’re doing NetSuite integrations. Performance has been rock solid, and when something breaks, their error messages actually tell you what’s wrong instead of just “oops, something happened.”
We looked at Mulesoft too, but holy hell, the pricing is ridiculous unless you’re processing millions of transactions every month. Total overkill for most companies.
Here’s something people don’t think about - check how often they actually update their platform. Celigo ships new features constantly while Boomi felt like it was stuck in 2019. Also, don’t just play around with their demo - test their trial with your real data before you sign anything.
