Which platform is better: Shopify basic plan vs WooCommerce for single product business?

Hey everyone! I’m looking for some guidance here. My small business currently sells just one item but I want to expand globally soon. Right now I’m on WooCommerce but I keep seeing major companies using Shopify instead. I’m wondering if switching to Shopify’s entry level subscription would make sense for my situation. Has anyone compared these two platforms for a simple single product store that plans to grow internationally? What are the main differences I should consider?

i’d say go for shopify if you’re thinkin of expanding. the setup is easier and they handle global sales really well. while woocommerce has options, it can get pretty messy with all the plugins. shopify has a more seamless experience overall.

I’ve run both platforms for different businesses - WooCommerce beats Shopify long-term, even though it’s trickier upfront. Shopify Basic’s transaction fees will kill your margins once you scale internationally. WooCommerce lets you own your data and customize everything without monthly fees. Sure, you’ll handle hosting and security yourself, but it’s not that bad for a single product. The real win? Global expansion is way easier with WooCommerce - more payment options and currency flexibility without getting trapped in Shopify’s ecosystem. I ditched Shopify after hitting their transaction limits and haven’t regretted it since.
