Hey everyone,
I’ve been noticing something really weird on YouTube lately. Has anyone else come across super long ads that you can’t skip? I’m talking about ads that last for an hour or even more!
It’s driving me crazy because I can’t watch the videos I want without sitting through these endless commercials. I’ve tried refreshing the page and even using different devices, but the problem keeps happening.
Is this some kind of new YouTube policy? Or maybe it’s a glitch in their system? I’d love to know if other people are experiencing this too and if anyone has found a way to deal with it.
Also, has YouTube said anything about this issue? I haven’t been able to find any official statement from them. It’s really frustrating, and I’m considering using an ad blocker if this keeps up.
Any insights or advice would be much appreciated!
ugh same here! its getting rly annoying. i found a trick tho - if u close the video n reopen it sometimes u get a diff ad thats shorter. also try watchin on diff devices, my xbox gets way less of those crazy long ads for some reason. youtube needs to chill w/ this nonsense fr
I’ve definitely encountered those marathon ads you’re talking about, and they’re a real pain. From what I’ve gathered, it’s not a glitch but actually a deliberate strategy by YouTube to push more users towards their Premium subscription. They figure if they make the free experience frustrating enough, more people will cave and pay up.
I work in digital marketing, and we’ve seen similar tactics across various platforms. It’s all about maximizing revenue. YouTube’s probably testing to see how far they can push before users abandon ship.
One workaround I’ve found is using a VPN. For some reason, I get fewer of these unskippable ads when I connect through certain countries. It’s not foolproof, but it helps. Also, consider using YouTube on a smart TV or game console if you have one - the ad experience seems less aggressive there.
Ultimately, YouTube’s banking on most users being too invested in their platform to leave, no matter how annoying the ads get. It’s a risky game they’re playing, but only time will tell if it pays off for them.
yo its crazy frustrating! i think youtube’s tryin to push their premium stuff. i’ve been using vanced on android, works like a charm. no ads at all. for iphone users, maybe try brave browser? heard it blocks ads too. youtube’s really testin our patience lol
omg those ads r the worst!! i swear youtube’s tryna make us all go crazy lol. i started using adblock on my computer n it’s been a lifesaver. for mobile tho, i just close the app n reopen it when i get a long ad. not perfect but better than nothin. hope youtube fixes this bs soon!
I’ve been tracking this issue closely, and it’s definitely a deliberate move by YouTube. They’re experimenting with ad formats to boost revenue and Premium subscriptions. From my analysis, these long ads are more prevalent on popular channels and during peak viewing hours.
One effective workaround I’ve found is using YouTube through smart TV apps or gaming consoles. The ad experience there is generally less intrusive. Another strategy is to watch videos via embedded links on other websites, which often have fewer ads.
For those tech-savvy, setting up a Pi-hole on your home network can block ads across all devices. It’s a bit complex to set up, but highly effective.
Ultimately, YouTube’s banking on user inertia. They’re betting most people won’t switch platforms despite the annoyance. It’s a risky strategy that could backfire if pushed too far.
I’ve been dealing with this issue too, and it’s definitely frustrating. From my experience, these long, unskippable ads seem to be more common on certain types of content, especially longer videos or those from popular channels. I’ve noticed that watching during off-peak hours (like early morning or late night) sometimes results in fewer of these ads.
One thing that’s worked for me is using YouTube through my smart TV’s app. For some reason, I rarely encounter these marathon ads there. Also, I’ve found that if I let a video play for a few seconds and then skip to the end, I can often replay it without any ads at all.
Another trick I’ve discovered is to keep a playlist of videos I want to watch. When I hit a long ad, I just skip to the next video in the playlist. It’s not ideal, but it helps me avoid sitting through those hour-long commercials.
Ultimately, though, it seems like YouTube is pushing hard for Premium subscriptions. It’s annoying, but until they change their strategy or users start leaving en masse, we might have to keep finding creative workarounds.
I’ve been dealing with those endless ads too, and it’s been driving me up the wall. From what I’ve seen, YouTube’s really pushing the envelope with these long, unskippable ads. It’s not just you - tons of users are complaining about it.
Here’s a trick that’s worked for me: I use the YouTube app on my smart TV. For some reason, I rarely get those marathon ads there. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s made watching videos a lot more bearable.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that these ads seem to pop up more on trending videos or during prime time hours. If you can, try watching your favorite content during off-peak times. You might see fewer of those annoying long ads.
YouTube’s clearly trying to nudge us towards their Premium service, but man, they’re really testing our patience with this strategy. I’m sticking it out for now, but if it gets much worse, I might have to explore other platforms. It’s a shame because I love YouTube’s content, but these ads are seriously impacting the user experience.
