Why isn't there a personal version of Airtable?

I really enjoy using Airtable for my job and would love to use it in my personal life as well. However, it appears to be quite pricey for family or community applications based on my experience. It seems like a lost chance for enhancing user engagement and brand visibility, which might also contribute to future growth in enterprise markets. Does anyone understand why Airtable seems reluctant to target the consumer sector?

maybe it’s just not profitable rn? personal use might involve different needs & support which can be costly. i would love a cheaper version too! hope they consider it someday.

Airtable may focus primarily on enterprise users because businesses have more substantial budgets and extensive data management requirements, making them more lucrative customers. Additionally, catering to personal users could necessitate a different set of tools and features that might not align well with their current business offerings. Aligning resources towards enterprises could help them to maintain their premium positioning in the market. Nevertheless, I agree that a streamlined version for personal use could boost user numbers and brand loyalty.

I think another possible reason they haven’t targeted the personal market could be related to scalability and maintenance concerns. Offering a more affordable personal plan might dilute their brand image as a premium service provider, potentially leading to increased pressure on customer support due to a larger, more varied user base. Plus, there’s the risk of overcomplicating their product line by trying to simultaneously serve both professional and casual users. A balance might be struck in future as their infrastructure evolves.
