Hey everyone! I’ve been playing Siege for a while now and I’m curious about its future. I heard some talk about the game possibly moving to a single graphics API. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, which API might they choose? I’m wondering how this could affect performance and compatibility across different systems. Also, what do you think about this potential change? Would it be good for the game in the long run? Let me know your thoughts!
As far as I know, there’s been no official word from Ubisoft about Siege moving to a single graphics API. It’s an interesting idea, but I’d be surprised if they made such a significant change at this point in the game’s lifecycle. That said, if they did decide to go that route, Vulkan might be a logical choice. It’s cross-platform and could potentially offer performance benefits across different systems. However, it would be a massive undertaking to rewrite the entire game for a new API, and there’s always the risk of introducing new bugs or compatibility issues. Personally, I think they’re more likely to focus on incremental improvements to the existing engine rather than a complete overhaul. But who knows? The gaming industry can be full of surprises.
i haven’t heard anything official about siege switching APIs. it’d be a huge undertaking and might cause issues for some players. vulkan could be cool for cross-platform support, but dx12 is solid too. personally i think they’ll stick with what works for now. maybe focus on other improvements instead?
