Hey everyone,
I just heard some news about Spotify and their Car Thing gadget. Apparently, they’re offering refunds to people who bought it. I’m kind of confused about this whole situation.
Does anyone know why Spotify is doing this? Is the Car Thing not working well or something? I was thinking about getting one, but now I’m not sure if it’s a good idea.
Also, if you have a Car Thing, are you planning to return it and get your money back? I’d love to hear from folks who’ve used it and what they think about this refund offer.
Thanks for any info you can share!
I work for a car audio shop, and we’ve seen quite a few customers come in asking about the Car Thing lately. From what I’ve gathered, Spotify’s refund offer isn’t due to any major issues with the device itself. They’re simply discontinuing it because it didn’t take off as they hoped.
In my professional opinion, the Car Thing is a decent gadget for older vehicles without built-in infotainment systems. However, its functionality is limited compared to other options on the market. If you already own one and it meets your needs, there’s no real reason to return it unless you want the refund.
For those considering a purchase now, I’d suggest looking into more versatile alternatives like aftermarket car stereos with smartphone integration. These offer broader functionality and will likely have longer-term support. Ultimately, it depends on your specific needs and budget.
I’ve been using the Car Thing for a few months now, and I have to say, I’m quite satisfied with it. Spotify’s refund offer is actually due to them discontinuing the product, not because of any performance issues. They’re likely trying to wind down inventory and support.
From my experience, the Car Thing works well for what it’s designed to do - providing easy access to Spotify in vehicles without advanced infotainment systems. The interface is straightforward, and voice control is handy for safer driving.
Personally, I’m not planning to return mine. It serves its purpose in my older car, and I find it more convenient than using my phone directly. However, if you were considering buying one, you might want to look into alternatives since Spotify won’t be supporting it long-term.
yeah, spotify’s giving refunds cuz they’re stopping car thing production. it works fine tho. i’m keeping mine - its great for my old beater car. if u haven’t bought one yet, maybe look at other options since they won’t update it anymore. but if u find a good deal, go for it!
