Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some input on a project I’m working on. It’s a tool that basically does a lot of the heavy lifting in Jira for you. Here’s what it can do:
- Grabs info from places like Slack, Github, Confluence, and even Zoom calls
- Makes new tickets or updates existing ones (with human approval)
- Helps sort out which tickets are most important
- Cleans up the backlog
- Fills in user stories automatically
The big idea is to give people a clear picture of what’s going on with work in real-time.
What do you think? Would something like this be useful for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts on why it would or wouldn’t be helpful.
Thanks for your time!
I’ve been using Jira for years, and while automation sounds appealing, I’m cautious about going all-in. In my experience, every team has unique workflows that don’t always fit neatly into automated systems. The feature that intrigues me most is the automatic user story generation - that could be a real time-saver if done right.
However, I’ve seen automation efforts backfire when they’re too rigid. Teams end up fighting the system instead of using it as a tool. The key would be flexibility and the ability to easily override automated decisions when needed.
Also, how would this tool handle complex dependencies between tickets or projects? That’s often where things get tricky in my experience. If it can navigate that well, it might be worth a shot. But I’d definitely want a thorough trial period before committing fully.
I’ve worked with similar automation tools before, and while they can be powerful, they often come with hidden costs. The time spent configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the system can outweigh the benefits. There’s also the risk of over-automating and losing valuable human insight. That said, if implemented carefully, some of these features could streamline processes. My advice would be to start small, maybe with just the backlog cleanup or ticket prioritization, and gradually expand if it proves beneficial. Have you considered potential data privacy concerns with pulling info from various sources automatically?
sounds great in theory, but i’m skeptical about how well it’d actually work in practice. automation can be hit or miss. plus, some team members might resist losing control over their workflow. would need to see it in action before committing. how’s the learning curve?
