YouTube API Quota Request Taking Forever - No Response After Months

I’m having a frustrating issue with getting my YouTube Data API quota increased. I sent in the request through Google’s official form back in early this year and it’s been radio silence ever since. We’re talking about 5 or 6 months now with zero communication from their team.

I’m building a content management platform that helps creators manage their YouTube channels. As we grow, we really need higher API limits to keep everything running smoothly for our users. The current quota just isn’t cutting it anymore.

I’ve tried following up multiple times through email but haven’t heard anything back. It’s really holding back our product development and we can’t roll out new features until this gets sorted.

Has anyone else dealt with these crazy long wait times for quota increases? I’m wondering if there’s something I’m missing or if this is just how long it takes now. Are there any other ways to contact Google about this besides the standard form and email follow-ups?

Also curious if there are common mistakes that slow down the approval process. Maybe something in the terms of service that trips people up? I think our app follows all the rules but maybe I’m overlooking something.

Any tips from developers who’ve been through this would be awesome. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Unfortunately this seems to be the new normal with Google’s API quota increases. I went through something similar about 18 months ago and ended up having to pivot our architecture while waiting. What eventually worked for me was getting more specific about the business justification in follow-up emails. Instead of just saying we needed higher limits, I included projected user growth numbers, current API efficiency metrics, and detailed explanations of how the quota increase would directly support our users. I also made sure to reference the original ticket number in every communication. The breakthrough came when I started sending quarterly updates showing our platform’s growth and continued responsible API usage, even with the limited quota. It took about 7 months total but I think the regular updates showing we were a legitimate growing business made the difference. Consider documenting your current API usage patterns and optimization efforts to show you’re not just asking for more resources without being efficient with what you have.

damn thats rough, google support can be a real pain sometimes. i got mine approved after like 4 months but had to resubmit twice because they kept asking for more details about user consent and data handling. maybe try posting in the youtube api developer google group? sometimes googlers actually respond there when they ignore the official channels.

I experienced a similar situation with my application last year, and it took around 8 months to get my quota increase approved. I found that reaching out via the Google Cloud Console support system significantly improved my chances of getting a timely response. Specifically, I stated my use case in detail, which included precise metrics on expected API calls and implementation strategies to optimize usage. Additionally, it’s vital to demonstrate your current utilization patterns, as Google assesses these before granting increases. Ensuring your application showcases responsible use of existing limits can make a difference.
